Studio Art at 91pornÔ´´

BA and BFA in Studio Art

Mission

The Studio Art program at 91pornÔ´´ empowers students to develop as innovative makers, thinkers, and professionals. Through a balance of strong foundations, open studio exploration, and advanced capstone work, our students gain the skills, vision, and confidence to thrive as artists, graduate students, and creative professionals.

Our Approach

We believe in learning by making. From the very first semester, students step into active studio environments where creativity, experimentation, and critique drive growth. Our program encourages risk-taking while grounding students in solid technical skills and critical thinking.

Students move quickly from foundations into a broad range of studio courses—including ceramics, painting, photography, sculpture, printmaking, design, and digital media—before advancing into specialized studios and professional practice experiences.

Small class sizes and close mentorship from faculty-artists ensure that every student is supported in developing their unique artistic voice.

Hands-On Learning

  • Studio-Centered: Upperclassmen in Studio have access to dedicated studio spaces and a collaborative community of peers.
  • Capstone Projects: Juniors and seniors complete a sequence of seminars, thesis, and exhibition courses that prepare them for professional practice.
  • Exhibition Opportunities: Students regularly showcase their work on campus, in local galleries, and in the community.
  • Internships & Careers: BFA students complete internships in galleries, museums, and design studios, gaining valuable professional experience.
  • Visiting Artists & Field Trips: Regular lectures, workshops, and trips to New York and Philadelphia connect students with the broader art world.

Program Outcomes

Graduates of the Studio Art program will:

  • Build a professional portfolio that demonstrates conceptual depth, technical mastery, and creative originality.
  • Sustain an independent studio practice informed by research, experimentation, and reflection.
  • Communicate effectively through writing, speaking, and critique—essential skills for professional and academic success.
  • Navigate careers in the arts, creative industries, or graduate study with confidence and preparation.
  • Exhibit their work publicly, gaining experience engaging with audiences and professional communities.

  • Location Advantage: Just 90 minutes from New York and Philadelphia, students gain access to world-class cultural centers while benefiting from the supportive, close-knit community of the Lehigh Valley.
  • Affordability & Flexibility: 91pornÔ´´ provides the caliber of a top art program at a fraction of the cost—while allowing students to pursue minors, double majors, or study abroad.
